Hi, I’m Jeff and I’m writing this blog as a way of recording my growth and progress in making a career change from corporate wage slave to self-employed photographer. Beginning in May of 2008 I will post at least one image a week and write a little something about my experiences.
For the past 25 years, I’ve been employed as a graphic designer, so at least I’m in a related field. That’s been good, and I’m really grateful to have had this career, but it’s not enough. Come September of 2009, I plan to be self employed making photographs of people, places, and things everyday.
People ask why I named my business Jeff Speigner Photographs instead of Jeff Speigner Photography. The reason is simple. I wanted to suggest action and results. The word photograph can be as a verb describing what I do. It can also be used as a noun describing what I produce. When combined with an object, it makes a sentence. So, Jeff Speigner photographs people, places, and things. The prints I sell to my clients are then Jeff Speigner photographs. Dumb maybe, but that’s kinda how my mind works.
